Come dance the night away as Countryside Ride showcases the music of Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Tommy Collins, Red Simpson, Wynn Stewart, Dwight Yoakum, and the West
Coast-style Country Music that has been their biggest influence: the Bakersfield Sound.
Created in the honkytonks, the Bakersfield Sound arose as the defiant answer the music coming out of Nashville in the 50s and 60s. While the music in Nashville was characterized by its slick production, string arrangements, and background choruses, the Bakersfield Sound was punctuated with the loud high sounds of electric and steel guitars, fiddles, lead and harmony vocals, and was influenced rock and roll, rockabilly, and other American music genres as well as traditional country music. While the music coming out of Nashville became more and more pop oriented, artists in and around Bakersfield California were turning out hardcore country music that was rawer, twangier, and more rockin’.
Although Countryside Ride’s musical influences are vast, the artists and music associated with the Bakersfield Sound have left an indelible impression on the band and their music.
