Death Doulas and Community Deathcare

Sponsored by the Mid-Columbia Unitarian UniversalistFellowship. Tamara Thiel is a certified home funeral consultant in the Gorge area and an End-of-Life Doula. A death doula, is a person who assists in the dying process, similar to a midwife or doula does with the birthing process. It is usually a community based role that helps family and loved ones cope with death through recognizing it as a natural and important part of life. Tamara will be addressing the topic of why we need a community movement for deathcare now more than ever and what the role of an End-Of-Life Doula is.
