6pm Doors / 7pm Show
All Ages
Spend the evening with us as four songwriters, Arran Fagan, John Lensing, Tommy Fliss, and Kyle J. Glenn take to the stage to share their songs and the stories behind them.
Praised for his introspective lyrics and vivid storytelling, Portland-based folk artist Arran Fagan has garnered a following in his native Oregon with his uncanny ability to weave the personal and universal. After getting his start in the grassroots music scene of Southern Oregon, Arran has spent the greater part of his life pursuing music, creating wistful and evocative songs that explore themes that connect us all–loss, addiction, change, and the endless passage of time.
John Lensing started out as a street performer, writing songs and driving around the US to play them for people. Slowly, this led to playing shows and festivals, but the goal has always been the same. To make people care — about others, themselves, and things that sometimes hurt to care about.
His genre-blurring songwriting has brought him on tours all across North America and Europe. Most notably playing a showcase at the Sommer in Altona festival (Hamburg), and being named “an artist to watch” by No Depression.
Tommy Fliss loves songwriting as artistic storage space for life lessons, emotions, and good stories worth retelling. A good song helps the writer; a great song helps the listener too. He draws his inspiration from great storytellers like Lou Reed, Mark Knopfler, Isaac Brock, and Britt Daniel, Gordon Lightfoot, and John McCrea.
Unapologetically raw and sung straight from the heart, the Portland-based Kyle J. Glenn’s music juxtaposes inner monologues with triumphant declarations. Bittersweet chords collide against hope-tinged lyrics, taking listeners on a captivating sonic journey that ebbs and flows between tension and resolution.
With a wide-range of influences, today he cites Gillian Welch, John Prine and The Mountain Goats as a few notable musicians that have helped him forge his own sound and identity as an artist.
