Hidden History: The History of Juneteenth
Join us at The History Museum to learn all about the history of Juneteenth. Evelyn Charity will share the origins and importance of June 19th as a day of celebration and remembrance. Evelyn is a retired Hood River Valley High School teacher and current member of the Hood River County Heritage Council, the non-profit board that oversees The History Museum.
In the Hidden History lecture series, we delve into the less obvious aspects of historical topics, investigate unexpected stories, and discover the myriad ways that we can learn about the past.
This will be a good opportunity to view the current temporary exhibition, “Not Just A Footnote – Women Who Shaped Hood River History,” which runs through the end of June. We hope to see you Wednesday, June 21, 7pm at The History Museum!
FREE – $10 Donation appreciated
You can also watch this event online, streamed live on YouTube. Link will be available on the museum website.
