“Learn about Octopuses in the Wild & Captivity” WS Library Community Reads
Join us in the Sprint/Baker Gallery of the White Salmon Valley Community Library or register to view online at fvrl.org.
This event is fourth in a series celebrating the 2023 Community Reads selection: Remarkably Bright Creaturesby Shelby Van Pelt. A Giant Pacific Octopus, Marcellus, narrates this story from captivity, in a small aquarium on Puget Sound.
Marley Loomis is currently a Master’s student at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage, Alaska, studying octopus behavior.
She will be joining us via Zoom to share her love and knowledge of the Giant Pacific Octopus (GPO) and other octopus species, both in the wild and in captivity. Over the last five years, she has been the primary caretaker for multiple GPOs and a variety of other octopus species, including raising and releasing a GPO from a small aquarium located on Puget Sound.
Expect some interesting facts and lots of fun pictures!
